Check out our new publication in the Journal of Marine Science and Egnineering, entitled "Sediment Transport Equivalent Waves for Estimating Annually Averaged Sedimentation and Erosion Trends in Sandy Coastal Areas"
In this paper, a simple approach to determine representative offshore wave characteristics for estimating the annually averaged sedimentation and erosion trends in sandy coastal areas is presented, in order to accelerate the morphological simulations.
To validate the proposed methodology, the Maris PMS, Maris HYD and Maris SDT models were utilized in combination ot estimate rates of bed level change in an idealized test case, as well as a real-field case study.
The proposed approach was proven to provide reliable results of the annually averaged rates of bed level change, while also reducing the computational effort significantly.
