Scientia Maris receives funding to upgrade the resilience of coastal communities
Scientia Maris has been awarded with European and Greek national funding to upgrade the resilience of coastal communities through its numerical models. The Project COAST-UP (Cloud-Based Models for Upgrading Coastal Resilience) is co‐financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union and Greek national funds through the Operational Program Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE 2nd Cycle (project code: Τ2EDK-03811).
The main objective of COAST-UP is the development of high-fidelity numerical models capable of simulating a wide spectrum of natural processes taking place in the coastal zone, aiming to provide a complete simulation package addressing coastal erosion and flooding. The implementation of the project can be summarized in three steps: (i) upgrading, verifying and developing to an operational level these models, (ii) construction of user-friendly graphical interface and cloud-based platform, (iii) settlement of copyrights. Recipients who will benefit: engineers, state/local authorities and stakeholders having responsibility on the coastal zone, researchers in universities and research institutes, other professionals related to coastal activities such as with tourism, and the general population living in the coastal zone.
